High School, Then: Reach

Reach

Cold and lonely, bitterness
Hidden deep, here in my heart
Ripens with each day that passes
Inner feeling coming out
She comes, soft-spoken and quiet
Stirring my heart in her wake
A simple beauty and grace
Yet I cannot even touch
Ever remain in shadow
Not as lover, only friend
Kills all my hopes, for I know
Only she can save me
                 from falling to shadow
